Common questions
My iPhone does not find my Mac
- Put the Mac and the iPhone on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks and some office networks block devices from seeing each other.
- On the Mac, open Rev and choose Send to iPhone. The Mac only shows up while that panel is serving.
- On the iPhone, open Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network and turn on Rev Preview.
- On the Mac, if asked, allow Rev to find devices on your local network. Check System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
- Turn off VPNs on both devices while you pair.
- Still stuck? Scan the QR code shown on the Mac, or type the address shown in the panel by hand.
The video plays but I feel no haptics
- Haptics need an iPhone 8 or later. iPad, Mac and the Simulator play the video only.
- Open Settings › Sounds & Haptics and turn on System Haptics.
- Turn off Low Power Mode. It can turn haptics off.
- Check that the haptics switch in the player is on.
- The Ring/Silent switch does not matter. Haptics play in silent mode too.
How do I restore my Rev Pro purchase?
Rev Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account. On your Mac, sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you bought it with. In Rev, choose Export (or Rev › Restore Purchases), then choose Restore Purchases. You will not be charged again.
Is Rev Preview free?
Yes. Rev Preview is free and has no purchases. Previewing from the Mac is free too. Rev Pro on the Mac unlocks export: AHAP files, the Swift player code and the other companion files.
Where are my files saved?
- Projects: Rev projects are documents. They are saved wherever you choose. The Sample Trailer project is copied to your Documents folder on first launch.
- Exports: AHAP files and the Swift player are saved to the folder you pick in the Export sheet.
- Videos: by default a project links to your video where it is. You can also embed a copy of the video in the project from the Project inspector.
- On iPhone: previews are kept inside Rev Preview. Swipe left on one in the library to delete it.
How do I use the exported haptics in my app?
Add the exported .ahap file, the video and the HapticVideoPlayer.swift file to your Xcode project. The Swift file plays the video and the haptics together and keeps them in sync.
Do you collect my data?
